We began to make a new autonomous program for state championships. We started by making an autonomous program that drives forward, shoots balls, turns, picks up balls, turns back, and shoots what it got. For a visual, see this info graphic:



For the turns, we used a gyro sensor.

After we completed the program, we needed to fine-tune.

After some testing, we realized at best, 4 balls in the high goal was the best we could hope for. The program was not 100% successful.

My lazy teenage mind thought, “is there an easier way to do this?”

And there was!

Instead of the complicated program, we created one that drives forward, and shoots 4 preloads from the middle of the field, where we are more accurate. It was very successful! We are super happy to have thought of this, and are hoping to win many autonomous bonuses!
